ST0023 - Payroll Specialist

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly and including retroactive pay, termination pay, and special payments.
  • Payroll data entry; vacation pay outs, allowances, increases, retro-active adjustments, verifying and inputting taxable benefits, setting up garnishments, other deductions and preparing ROE’s as required.
  • Audit and reconcile payroll registers prior to transmission.
  • Respond to employee and government agency inquiries in regards to payroll.
  • Maintain pension and benefits enrolments and terminations.
  • Maintain data accuracy in HRIS and Payroll Systems.
  • Assist team in reviewing and developing internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of month end reports for payroll, review and reconcile data for accuracy.
  • Adhere to all procedures and policies, payroll regulations, legislation and standards
  • Year-end payroll activities including reconciliations, submissions, and distribution of employee T-4’s and applicable provincial tax forms.
  • Processes payroll, pension and benefit related invoices, including Workers Compensation, benefit invoices etc.
  • Liaise with payroll, pension, and benefit service provider representatives, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable full cycle payroll experience in a stand-alone role.
  • Extensive experience with ADP Payroll.
  • PCP certification or college diploma/University degree in Accounting, Finance, Payroll or related field of study.
